The Congolese Advancement Project is comprised of a small group of neighbors, friends and family based in Utah, USA, with the goal of helping the downtrodden and seriously disadvantaged in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  The organization relies heavily upon selfless  “Good Samaritan” Congolese citizens without whom many projects would simply be impossible.  Men like Felix who aids David the blind tailor, Peter who drives 2 hours round trip to manage the Ugandan school, build ovens in the small town and Bukasa who shepherds a thriving school are the real heroes of this story.  Many of the people we have helped, and the projects we have undertaken, have come to our knowledge through friends and family who have either served r missions to the country or have ties in other ways. Each situation is different and each is handled in the appropriate manner to ensure no fraud or misuse of funds, and the successes have been astounding.

The STORIES section of our website details some of the larger projects, but there are so many more success stories to be told.  When family members of our recipients need medical care, we are there to make sure they receive the care and medication they desperately need but cannot afford.  Often as little as $75 will pay for doctors visits and medication to save someone from malaria.  Without the help of our organization a child burn victim would have received no medical care and a had life-long disability.  Family-run grocery stores have been restocked after being robbed of all contents, homes have been repaired to make them livable, diplomas have been earned, starving families have been fed, a motorcycle purchased so the recipient could be a motorcycle “taxi” driver to earn income, and the list goes on and on.

The main goal of the organization is to lift others that have no way of climbing out of a deplorable situation to someday be a contributing member of their society and become as self sufficient as possible, but we will also help those where poverty is so defeating the next meal is often not even in sight.

 

We understand there is an innumerable list of worthy causes in the world to which you may donate funds, so we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting ours.  We are a charitable organization, no one in the organization is paid or receives any monies in anyway for their service.  100% of all donations are used directly to help those we serve or pay for fees or simple operating costs the organization incurs.  We do this because we love to serve and lift others.  Even the smallest donation makes an enormous impact where as little as $25 pays the monthly rent. As  we focus on the ONE, each individual is lifted to a higher place where their self-esteem is strengthened and their vision of the future is more positive.
